Media Release: Huge Boost to support student welfare and mental health

In a first for NSW, every public high school will have two dedicated experts to ensure students have access to vital mental health and wellbeing support.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian today announced that the $88 million investment will ensure that every public high school student in the State has access to highly qualified mental health professionals they can confidentially speak to, as well as great support for bullying, anxiety, stress and any other difficult issues they may face at school.

About Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an annual, worldwide event will be held on Tuesday 5 February 2019 to help encourage a better internet, with this year’s theme—‘Together for a better internet’ encourages individuals to create a better internet by developing four, critical skills. We call these skills the 4Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Reasoning and Resilience.

There are many ways you, and your organisation, can get involved with SID2019:

  • Show your support for Safer Internet Day using our selfie masks
  • Include content on your website, newsletters or other platforms
  • Run internal staff events
  • Use #SID2019 or #SaferInternetDay on social media

Every month, we give someone $1,000 to do something Awesome in Lake Mac – no strings attached.

The Awesome Foundation is an international philanthropic organisation devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe.  Every month, we award a no strings attached grant of $1,000 to a project that we deem Awesome.  We’re interest in a wide variety of projects.  If you think your idea is worth $1,000 send us an application!

Awesome Lake Mac: Board members wanted

Would you like to play a role in helping to create an even more awesome Lake Mac?

Lake Mac City Council and  CALM have partnered to launch awesome Lake Mac, an innovative grassroots program offering $1,000 grants each month.

We are seeking Board Members, willing to part with 3 hours and $100 a month to support projects that benefit the Lake Mac community.  In 2019, 3 grant rounds will be held specifically for youth projects, hearing ideas from young people aged 16-24 years.

Free Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshops – Years 7 & 9

As part of the Bright Minds Program, Community Activities Lake Macquarie (CALM) is offering FREE Mental Health & Wellbeing workshops for Students in Years 7 and 9.  This program won Excellence in Service and Program Delivery at the 2018 Mental Health Matters Awards.

2019 NAIDOC Grants Funding Round Now Open

Applications are now open for the 2019 NAIDOC grants round. NAIDOC grants support communities to celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples during NAIDOC Week.

Activities should be held during NAIDOC Week – 7-14 July 2019.

Applications close Monday 25 February 2019 at 5pm (AEDT).
