Travelling to and around Newcastle

FARE FREE BUS ZONE

Newcastle has Free Bus Transport in the city centre between 7.30am and 6:00pm seven days a week. The buses run along Hunter St and will drop you very, very close to the conference venue (maybe a 1 – 2 minute walk!)

PARKING

Parking in Newcastle
It is difficult to find free parking in Newcastle city. There are parking meters in the city and there are some car parks. There is a big carpark near the conference venue and civic train station. If you are driving in Newcastle, you need to be aware of the parking rules and facilities. Newcastle City Council has produced a brochure about Parking in Newcastle (1mb pdf).which provides information as well as a map of parking in the CBD.
Street parking in Newcastle’s City Centre is intended for short-term stays. For longer stays, consider using a parking station or perhaps leave the car at home and catch a bus, ferry or train.

HOW TO GET TO CONFERENCE VENUE:

To Get To Conference Venue Driving From Sydney:
Take the F3 highway following the North Coast / Newcastle signs.
Take the Wallsend exit off the F3 and follow the signs to the city centre.
Turn left at Union Street, right at Hunter Street, then left into Merewether Street.
To Get To Conference Venue Driving From Newcastle Airport:
(Approximate distance and time to the hotel is 30 kilometres, 20 minutes).
Drive south along Nelson Bay Road following the signs to Newcastle, crossing over Stockton Bridge into Teal Street Turn right into Cormorant Road and left into Tourle Street.
Next turn left again into Industrial Drive.
Follow this road and signs to Newcastle city centre.
Turn left into Hunter Street and left again into Merewether Street.
To Conference Venue by Train:
Nearly all trains going to Newcastle from Sydney/Central Coast, or Maitland/Muswellbrook line stop at “Civic Train Station” this is a 2 minute walk from the Conference Venue.
